I get the following error. This is where the Mongo data files will live. You can create the directory in the default location by running:. If you need to use sudo when running mongodb sudo mongodthat means you don't have read and write permission on the mongodb data folder.
As other friends mentioned, you should make a directory first for your database data to be stored. This folder could be something like:. From command line navigate to where you have installed mongodb and where mongod. In my case the full path is:. From here run mongod. Please Note : If you are on windows it is necessary to use double-quotes "" in the above to run properly.
To run Mongo DB demon with mongod command, you should have a database directory, probably you need to run:. Also, MongoDB need to have a write permissions for that directory or it should be run with superuser permissions, like sudo mongod.
Just wanted to throw this out there because the error in no way specifies that this is the problem. If you forgot to give the path of the previously created database while running the mongo server, the above error will appear.
Note So you can avoid it by configuration in environment variable. In my case, I got a similar error and it was happening because I had run mongod with the root user and that had created a log file only accessible by the root. I could fix this by changing the ownership from root to the user you normally run mongod from.
This exit code will also be given if you are changing MongoDB versions and the data directory is incompatible, such as with a downgrade. Move the old directory elsewhere, and create a new directory as per the instructions given in other answers. The --dbpath option points to your database directory. If it shows error shutting down with code that means it is not finding the desired location of file. And if the mongod show error shutting down with code 48 that means the port is being already use so you can do two things.

Do you mean, this is the cause of my problem? Just trying to see if there are any meaningful error messagew generated which may indicate what is actually preventing suspend to ram ie sleep. It hibernates the kernel, saving its state so it can boot faster. When faced with weird system problems that may be caused by a buggy driver or other low-level software issues, the problem persisted after shutting down our PC and booting it back up. In the traditional shutdown process, Windows fully shuts down everything, discards the running system state, and starts up from scratch the next time the PC boots.
When you hibernate, Windows saves the entire system state, including all your open programs and files, to disk so you can quickly resume from where you left off. Fast Startup mixes the traditional shutdown process with hibernation. With Fast Startup enabled, Windows 10 discards all your open programs and files as it would during a traditional shutdownbut saves the state of the Windows kernel to disk as it would during hibernation.
The next time you boot your PC, Windows restores the kernel and starts up the rest of the system. The kernel is the low-level core program at the heart of the operating system. It has full control over your computer and is one of the first things loaded during the boot process. The hardware drivers that your computer uses to interact with its hardware devices are part of the kernel.
Windows saves the current state and restores it instead of reinitializing everything. Windows restarts your computer, but it performs a full shut down first and discards the state of the kernel while doing so. Microsoft made this decision because people experiencing problems often reboot their computers to fix themso it makes some sense. If you prefer, you can instead perform a full shutdown by using the shutdown command from a Command Prompt or PowerShell window.
This command instructs Windows to shut down immediately and forcibly close any open applications. All you have to do then is double-click the shortcut to perform a full shutdown. If you never want to use the Fast Startup feature, you can disable it from the Control Panel.
For example, some older hardware devices may not be compatible with Fast Startup and may not reinitialize themselves properly when you boot up again. It helps your PC boot faster most of the time, and you can always perform a full shutdown with the tricks we discussed earlier. The Best Tech Newsletter Anywhere. You are seeing this error because you hibernated Windows instead of turning it off the normal way in newer versions of Windows, hibernate might be the default option.
Hibernating saves the current state information to the hard disk and then powers down the computer. Shutting down the computer closes all programs and ends all running processes before powering down the computer. When you turn off Windows by hibernating it, you are essentially pausing the system and saving all of that information into a big file called hiberfil.
This way when you resume from hibernation all of your applications and files will be exactly how you left them.
It also sets a flag in hiberfil. Making changes to your Windows ntfs partition while it is hibernated could be dangerous--it could cause Windows to not resume from hibernation or to crash after resuming. Because of this, the tool ntfs-3g that mounts opens the partition will not mount it in read-write mode if it sees a hibernation flag. As such, Nautilus, the default file browser, will not be able to automatically open this partition--hence the error message that you see--because it is trying to open it in read-write mode.
Boot into Windows and power down the system by shutting it down completely. You may then boot back into Manjaro and the partition will mount in read-write mode automatically when you open it in Nautilus. Note: that the "Shut Down" option may not be the one displayed in your start menu by default. You may need to click the button next to it to see further options. If you don't see a folder for your Windows partition, you should create one with the following command:. However you will not be able to write to the partition or modify any files as it is in read only mode.
If you need to mount the partition in read-write mode and are not able to or willing to boot into Windows and shut it down completely there is a third option.
However, it is not included here because it completely deletes hiberfil. The following is a quotation from man ntfs-3g about the option that would be used to do this.
There is a new feature in Windows 8 called Fast Startup . If this feature is enabled which it is by defaultWindows 8 does not actually completely shutdown when you choose shutdown. Instead, it does a "hybrid shutdown". This is something like hibernating; it makes booting Windows 8 back up faster. So, you need to disable this feature to be able to shut it down properly, and be able to mount the Windows partitions.
To do this, boot into your Windows 8 and:. Note: disabling Fast Startup will most likely make your Windows 8 take a longer time to boot.
There are no "exact" numbers, but let's say that if it took you 10 seconds to boot into Windows 8, it will now take you 50 seconds after disabling this feature. If you still aren't able to mount without getting errors, you may need to turn off hibernation completely.
